Bionote

Kalyani is Professor in Department of Elementary Education, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi where she had been working since 2004 as science teacher educator. She has thirty years of teaching experience in the capacity of teacher and teacher educator. She worked as a senior school teacher (Physics) for a decade before moving into teacher education. After her post graduation in Physics(specialization in Nuclear Physics)  from Department of Physics, University of Delhi , realising her passion for education,she went on to pursue Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education (B.Ed and M.Ed ) from Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi followed by Ph. D from the same Institute. Her doctoral thesis is in the area of science education .She is actively engaged in pre-service and in-service teacher education especially in the area of science education. Her research interests are in the areas of science education, environmental education and teacher education and authored books and research publications in this area. She has authored science textbooks for middle school published by Headword which are being extensively used all over the country .She has conducted numerous  capacity building and professional development workshops for school teachers and teacher educators in areas of assessment, inquiry pedagogies and research methodology. She had been on panel and part of a number of selection committees for recruitment of school  and college teachers.  She has been a resource person and consultant for many projects and initiatives undertaken by CBSE, NCERT, and NCTE. and currently  the convener of committee of courses(Physics) for senior secondary stage , C B S.E and research advisor to NIOS. She had been Head of the department,secretary staff council, Program officer of NSS amongst many administrative positions held at LSR College for women and presently chairperson of ICC and faculty advisor to student’s Union and Student Welfare office.
